White Lion
The White Lion comes from the 1862 Bar-Tender’s Guide by Jerry Thomas. This drink always stood out to me in the book because of it’s use of rum and raspberry syrup. The original recipe calls for a Santa Cruz Rum, which refers to the rums made in St. Croix. The drink is simple, elegant, and most importantly it just tastes good.
Like many classic cocktails from this area, it shares many similarities with other drinks. Even drinks from the same book, like the Knickerbocker
