The standout of this cocktail is the inclusion of Amer Picon, a French bitter orange apéritif liqueur, known for its deep citrus, quinine, and herbal complexity. Since Amer Picon is not available in the United States, we'll use a recipe crafted by @TrufflesOnTheRocks (video below). For this version of Amer Picon, you need Avera, Suze, Cointreau and Angostura Orange. While the recipe only includes 3/4 oz of our Amer Picon, the Size provided plenty of bitterness. This ended up as one of my favorite Trader Vic's originals and one of the most unusual as well. In Trader Vic's 1972 Bartender's Guide, he shares several cocktail with Amer Picon, bit the Kahala Cooler is the only "tiki" cocktail and it's the only one labeled as a "Trader Vic Original." This is the first drink from a series of videos exploring these award winners from the 1960s. While the Evening's Delight seems to have misplaced the spirit component of the drink, it's pretty tasty.
